Wine accessories on sale.

Starting on Thursday the 13th through Saturday the 15th of December, Portland Wine Storage will be selling most of our wine accessories discounted more than 30%. We will also be selling "like-new" and floor model products. What we have is a large amount of Ravenscroft lead-free and hand blown Polish crystal stems and decanters of all shapes and sizes. We also have Wine Keeper wine preservation kits, specialty corkscrews, House of Gattorna wine products, Storvino modular wine bins, steel racks, Dometic wine cellar floor models, and Wine Safe travel luggage.

Our current expansion requires us to clear out our storage space to make room for more wine, and all of this stuff is in our way. This is an excellent opportunity to get holiday gifts or to re-stock the home supply. We are not sure we will continue selling some of these products so once they are gone you may never see them again; and certainly never again at these prices.

We are introducing "Pure Vine Wines" which is a wine of the month club specializing in Biodynamic/Organic and Biodynamic wines. Once signed up, we will deliver two wines, usually one white and one red, to your home or cellar from the club of your choice. This is our first month but we have been preparing for some time and we have building a rich catalog of future offerings. Our site, www.purevinewines.com, will also have non-club wines for sale by the bottle. This is a great gift item because it can be purchased for any number of months and we take care of all the shipping hassles.

To make all of this more palatable, we will be serving appetizers and pouring wines from our club. Also, if you ask, we will give you a bottle of red wine vinegar made from casualties of our wine tasting parties over the last 6 years!

Yes, we are poised to begin yet another expansion. After we fill all of the existing spaces with additional lockers, we will focus entirely on walk-in rooms in the back towards the elevator. We will also expand our commercial wine storage business in the upstairs part of the warehouse. We'll install floor-to-ceiling, steel sheathed, 8-inch-thick foam panels for walls/insulation, and then frame out smaller (10 x 10 foot minimum) rooms throughout. The popularity of this type of storage space and corresponding use of equipment/amenities have demonstrated the wisdom of building more. If you are a distributor, importer, wine retailer, or small winery without the need for foot traffic or general public, this possibility is worth your consideration. As the new space IS NOT yet ready, and won't be until early 2008, we can incorporate your requirements into the design of your space; if you are interested, let us know now.

Scary Bottle Night! For 2007 Scary Bottle Night we made a bunch of different foods — stuffed mushrooms, antipasti, smoked & cured treats. If you would like a signed and numbered poster from our Scary Bottle Night Night original artwork by Bob Read, (this year or past), all you have to do is ask . . .and pay $3. Each of our posters was printed locally in additions of 100. If you would like to submit your art or idea for our next Scary Bottle Night, please do it early.

There is a new wine shop opening up on SE Morrison! It will be neighbors with Nostrana restaurant. The owner, I have on good authority, will keep a high-end stock of wines never seen before in the east side of Portland. We look forward to this welcome southeast addition. Now if only somebody in Portland could make a decent wine bar! OK, bad joke.

We want to encourage you to keep your wine accessible and also maximize the use of your space.
Read about or view a slideshow of our wire rack systems.
Even if you are looking for a home solution, please give our steel system some consideration. Compared to what else is out there, ours is sturdier, less expensive, locally manufactured, and more unique.
Another solution is provided by STORViNO™ modular bins. The Storvino product launched on our website portlandwinegear.com. These modular wine totes can be stacked and secured together using corks! They do a good job providing accessible storage space inside the lockers and they can be fitted into a rolling cart for added space to walk-in rooms. Just ask and I can show you some examples at Portland Wine Storage. If you would like to buy these from us and are not a local client, please visit our website portlandwinegear.com
for purchase.  Whatever you choose to do, don't order a kit out of a catalog.

Did you miss the article in the Oregon Wine Press about Wine Safe™ travel luggage? Check it out here.   Some time ago we fell in love with this product and offered it on portlandwinegear.com, our retail site. Over the summer new FAA regulations went into effect and the demand for these rose overnight.
This is a wonderful product. . . obscure & unique, well-made, not "assembled" but crafted, and entirely appreciated by its owner.  In the trunk of your car or even as checked baggage, no other containers even come close to Impact Wine Safe cases for transporting your wine. The 6 bottle carrier is small enough for carry-on, weighing 25-30 lbs full, and seems indestructable. (Yet, there is a lifetime warranty for this "Made-in-the-USA" product.)

We have been slowly adding quality wine products to our inventory and now have a wine accessory catalog online at http://portlandwinegear.com.  If you would like us to carry something, please offer us your suggestion. Ravenscroft™ handcrafted crystal stemware and decanters are available in the Tasting Room. These are the "real deal" in quality stemware and are a great value. Click here to see pictures and descriptions.  Call to confirm what we have in stock.

We continue to sell the Dometic Silent Cellar wine cabinets throughout the Northwest US.   If you want a Silent Cellar but live outside the Northwest we have to refer you to someone else.  For more information, or for a distributor in your area, call for the details.
Having now been on the market for a couple of years, these energy efficient wine cabinets from Sweden have proven their superiority to conventional refrigerator-style brands, AKA everyone else.  We are proud of the patented cooling technology, the workmanship, the manufacturer's environmental commitment, and the aesthetic of this product.  They now have a silver finish style available.

In addition to our latest room expansion, we recently added several more lockers offering variations to our existing ones. We now have non-palet lockers located directly off of the floor, and we have a small number of 8 case lockers.

We offer a variety of services and have a number of items for sale.
Until such time as all items are able to be pictured and or fully described online, please just pick up the phone and call for specifics;  or drop by for a look.

We do want everyone to be happy and comfortable, and are open to your suggestions.
The tasting room now has its dishwasher and utiliity sink. The entryway was updated once again though changes are slight and may be slow to register. The entryway has been "closed-in" from the 55 degree cellar temperature, to allow for better entertaining. Please forget about valet parking, though.
We have another pallet jack and two more step platforms, plus plenty of extra carts — so nobody should have to go searching the facility.

Catering: If you have been enjoying our food treats at the wine tastings, please feel free to contact Tom or Joe regarding menu possibilities, rates, and scheduling for your own event.

A big part of our efforts to improve the quality of the facility rests on everyone's shoulders. We ask that everybody clean up after themselves and put trash/ debris where it truly belongs. Please stack good boxes neatly, and break down poor boxes for recycling. Separate broken Styrofoam containers from good ones, keeping re-usable boxes intact and in organized stacks.
With your help we can stay on top of the situation.   Thanks.
